Collecting the poem

Twas The Night Before Christmas is considered to be the most collected work of literature in the English language. The poem has been published thousands of times over the past near-to two centuries. Collecting the poem is both a pleasant pastime and can be a business venture.  Pamela McColl is an avid collector.

Currently collecting for a New York Museum please reach out if you have editions circa second half of 19th. Century.

Thousands of edtions of the classic Christmas poem have been published over the years plus countless printings in newspapers and periodicals.  The collecting of the enchanting poem is both a pleasurable pastime and serious endeavor for many. Majors collections are held by numerous museums but the most extensive remains in private hands - interestingly secured away in a hurricane-proof vault in Oklahoma.

Pamela McColl began collecting the poem in earnest in 2012 when she published the first smoke-free edition of the poem.  Her most precious editon however is the one given to her by her father in 1962 when she was four years old. It is her all-time favorite and is not available for re-sale for sentimental reasons. It is the editon illustrated by Florence Sarah Winship.

" I enjoy discovering the poem in older magazines and newspapers because of the auxilary finds these periodicals can offer. The vintage advertising and illustration in these publications are fascinating to someone such as myself with a real interest in Christmas' of the past.  In working on my book I made some remarkable discoveries in these older edtions and it was a pleasure to include them for my readers.
